Fox Sets 6 Marvel Movie Dates Plus Website Updates

Gambit?

20th Century Fox, the studio responsible for the current X-Men franchise, has set 6 dates for upcoming Marvel movies. The dates are as follows:

June 7, 2019

November 22, 2019

March 13, 2020

June 26, 2020

October 2, 2020

March 5, 2021

I think it’s safe to assume one of these dates is for Deadpool 3, most likely June 2020. One is probably an X Force movie, and we will definitely get a main X-Men movie. The other three are interesting. We could get the scrapped Gambit movie as one of these dates (which no one wants). James Mangold has said he would direct another movie with X-23, so one could involve that. As for the third, it is way too early to even think about. They set these dates pretty far out, especially the 2021 date. I’m not even sure if they know what movies they’re making.
Anyways, Fox has been showing promise with movies like Deadpool and Logan when they try comic book movies that try something different. I hope the future of the X-Men franchise follows that philosophy.

I will be incorporating more personal projects on the site instead of doing mainly new stories. This might include review of older movies, rankings, editorials, and more. This will start with reviews of the original Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies this week in anticipation for Spider-Man: Homecoming. I’ll still cover the news, but I want to do more than just that. If you have any suggestions for things I could do, leave them in the comments. I could really use some suggestions!

Simon Kinberg To Direct ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’; Jessica Chastain To Play Villain

As long as it’s better than Last Stand

Simon Kinberg, the producer of the X-Men franchise, will make his directional debut with X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

Deadline reports that Simon Kinberg will direct the next X-Men movie, titled X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Kinberg has directed every Fox produced Marvel movie since X-Men: First Class, including Fantastic Four. He also helped write X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Fantastic Four, and X-Men Apocalypse. He is set to write and produce the film as well. The film will star the main cast from X-Men: Apocalypse including Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, James McAvoy as Professor X, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler. Interestingly, Evan Peters, who played Quicksilver, is not on the list. The movie will be filming in Montreal.

THR reports that Jessica Chastain is in talks to play the film’s villain, Lilandra. They describe the character’s role as follows:  “Lilandra, the empress of an alien empire called the Shi’ar, who leads the quest to imprison and execute Dark Phoenix, sending her into conflict with the X-Men.”

Jessica Chastain being cast is great. There’s not much to say because of what a great actress she is. Also, I’m excited for the X-Men to finally go to space. Being a comic book fan myself, this is very satisfying to hear. Simon Kinberg directing is what scares me.

I know that he has a close relationship with the X-Men franchise, and I believe he has done a great job producing so far. The problem is he has never directed anything before. You shouldn’t let the first thing someone directs be a big budget blockbuster movie. He hasn’t ever directed before, and these big movies aren’t easy to handle. Like I said, he has plenty of experience writing and producing, but directing is a totally different thing

Now, if he had directed a smaller movie and done a good job, I would be fine with this news. But, he has absolutely no experience directing, so this scares me. I really want Fox to get the Dark Phoenix Saga right.
