DC seems to be poking up on the love for Wonder Woman because she is rumored to appear in the Flash movie.
In an article from Forbes about the success of Wonder Woman, it is said that she will be in the upcoming DC movie The Flash: Flashpoint. It also says that it is set for release in 2020. The movie was announced at this year’s Comic Con. Wonder Woman does play a major role in the original comic storyline. Her Amazonians and Aquaman’s army fight over territory of Earth for complicated reasons. Though the movie does focus primarily on Flash and Thomas Wayne Batman.
Forbes isn’t known for doing “scoops”, so this should be taken as a rumor. If this is true, seeing Wonder Woman and Aquaman fight would be amazing. Both characters will be well established with Wonder Woman having two solo films and Aquaman having his solo by this point. As long as they firmly establish the fact that it is set in an alternate universe, audiences shouldn’t be too lost by the idea. Even if she is in the movie, they might not take the comic book approach. She could just simply be a side character in the film. However way they would end up using her would be great with Gal Gadot in the role. She’s really owned the role on the movie screen and in real life.
Do you think Wonder Woman will be in The Flash: Flashpoint? How do you think they will use her? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.

Jaume Collet-Serra, director of Liam Neeson movies like Unknown, Non-Stop, and Run All Night, has turned down Suicide Squad 2 to direct the upcoming Disney film, Jungle Cruise, starring Dwane Johnson.
A report from Deadline says that Jaume Collet-Serra has signed on the direct the Disney film, Jungle Cruise, which means he will not be directing Suicide Squad 2. Warner Bros. had Collet-Serra as their top choice to take on the project. The report goes on to say that details of the plot are kept under wraps, but it is based on a theme park ride that takes you through the rivers around the world.
This is interesting because we all know that Suicide Squad was received poor reviews, earning a 25% on Rotten Tomatoes. Although it did earn $745 million in the box office. Leaving might be the best choice for Collet-Serra because of the bad taste the first film left in people’s mouths. Also, reports did come out about how Warner Bros. took over David Ayer for the first film, and he wasn’t able to direct the movie he wanted to make.
If Suicide Squad 2 failed, then all eyes would be on him and his directing. This would likely put a damper on his career moving forward. However, if Jungle Cruise were to not go well, then the blow wouldn’t be nearly as hard. It could just be a simple thing of what studio you want to work with. Disney is known to make very good films while the DCEU has not proven itself thus yet.
I’m not very familiar with his directing, but it seems like people enjoy his films. I’m excited to see Jungle Cruise, mainly because Dwane Johnson is in it. Also, I’m sure that Disney and Jaume Collet-Serra can make fun movie.
What do you think about the news? Do you want Jaume Collet-Serra to direct Jungle Cruise? Did you want him on Suicide Squad 2? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.

Now that it is the highest grossing movie of the summer, Warner Bros. is working towards an Oscar campaign for the DC film, Wonder Woman.
According to a report from Variety, Warner Bros. is going to push to make Wonder Woman the first comic book movie to be nominated for best picture. They are also campaigning for Patty Jenkins to get a best director nomination. No director of a comic book movie has ever been nominated for best director. Looks like they’re trying to break more records than they’ve already broken with the summer hit.
It’s surprising how no comic book movie has been nominated for best picture. The Dark Knight was supposedly the reason why they opened up the number of nominations for best picture to up to ten films. Also, only four female directors have ever been nominated for best director: Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker), Lina Wertmuller (Seven Beauties), Jane Campion (The Piano), and Sofia Coppola (Lost in Translation).
I really loved Wonder Woman, I thought it did a great job of showing a loving, and compassionate woman who could also kick butt at the same time. While the movie was great, I didn’t think it wasn’t one of the top ten comic book movies of all time, not to discredit the movie. My point is, it didn’t really do anything to transcend the genre of comic book movies or anything just outright amazing. Again, I absolutely loved the movie, but I don’t think it was anything Oscar worthy.
It’s great that Warner Bros. is pushing for this to get Oscar buzz. I wouldn’t be upset at all if got a nomination, I’d actually be pretty happy that it got one. Also, this year hasn’t had many Oscar type movies so far, though those usually come late in the year. So, if there isn’t much competition by the end of the year, my opinion might change, and it might have a better chance. One comic book movie that did do something daring and different with the ends this year was Logan. If any comic book movie could be nominated, I would choose Logan because it proved that comic books movies aren’t all the same. It showed what you can do with storytelling with that type of background behind it.
One last time (if I haven’t said it enough), I thought Wonder Woman was amazing, it just doesn’t seem like an Oscar movie.
I know my opinion might be unpopular, so what do you think? Do you want Wonder Womab to get a best picture nomination? Leave your comments below.

DC made quite the showing at San Diego Comic Con this past weekend. I am going to go over all of the biggest news that was revealed at the show.
Just to make this clear, I was not at the convention, I am just going over what I’ve heard happened from various news websites and articles. The panel started with a sizzle reel of the first four DCEU movies so far. They then went over all of the upcoming movies that they are working on, and showed the logos for those movies. The upcoming movies are, in no particular order, Wonder Woman 2, Batgirl, The Batman, Green Lantern Corps, Shazam!, Justice League Dark, Aquaman, and The Flash: Flashpoint. After that, Jason Mamoa showed up and showed footage from Aquaman. It has been described as Star Wars underwater.
The Justice League cast came on stage and talked about their experience with the movie. The biggest thing that came out of that was that Ben Affleck said he is the luckiest man in the world to play Batman after being asked if the rumors were true is he was quitting playing the character. The cast then showed the four minute trailer to the movie, and it was amazing! I love how the characters are showcased in the trailer. It smartly starts with Wonder Woman, most likely because of the success of her solo movie. The Flash is hilarious, Batman is great as always, and their Aquaman is different than we see him in the comics. However, I love how his character is portrayed. The trailer has a very epic feel, and it reminds me of the Justice League from the comics.
Following the trailer, they just answered fan questions and ended the Warner Bros. panel. I’m glad to see that DC has a somewhat complete slate of movie they have in production, even though they don’t have dates. They have done a great job with restructuring their universe after all of the problems they’ve had. The interesting movie is Flashpoint. In case you don’t know, Flashpoint is a comic book storyline when Barry Allen goes back in time and saves his mother from being killed. When he gets back to the present, everything has changed. Batman is Thomas Wayne, because Joe Chill shot Bruce Wayne, and Martha becomes the Joker. Basically, he finds a way to go back and let his mom die. When he goes back to the supposed normal present, things are still different. Everybody is five years younger, Clark Kent isn’t Superman yet, and the overall status quo of the comics changed. It was really a way for DC to reboot completely.
I hope that they aren’t doing this to do a soft reboot. The Hollywood Reporter did say that Warner Bros. was trying to find a way to gracefully usher Ben Affleck out of the Batman role, and Flashpoint makes sense to do that. Remember, Affleck never said he was going to stay as Batman, he just said he is lucky and happy in the role. The film could just change aspects of the Flash since it is a Flash movie, but Flashpoint always changes the entire universe. I’m fine with DC doing Flashpoint, but I don’t see why they are doing it so soon.
Overall I think DC did a great job with assuring us they know what they are doing with the DCEU with a great trailer and a slate of movies to look forward to.

Shazam! will be the next DCEU movie to go into production after Aquaman.
According to a report from THR, the next film in the DCEU will be Shazam! The movie will stat shooting sometime in January or February, and it will most likely be released in 2019. David F. Sandberg, director of Lights Out and the Annabelle sequel, will helm the film. The report states that in is “unclear” whether Dwane Johnson’s Black Adam will be involved. The article also says that the Suicide Squad sequel is eyeing a mid-2018 start.
I think it’s interesting that they chose Shazam! as the nest movie to start shooting. It does make sense though, because all the other movies have had director and script shakeups. The Flash has had three different directors, and Ben Affleck dropped out of The Batman. Shazam! has stuck with the same director throughout. Shazam isn’t a well known character, so the filmmakers will have a tough job with pitching the character.
This article was shorter because I didn’t have to much to say. What do you think about Shazam? Leave your thoughts down below.

Danny Elfman will now compose the score for the next film in the DCEU, Justice League.
THR reports that Danny Elfman will write the soundtrack for Justice League. He will replace Junkie XL who was previously set to compose, but left to work on another Warner Bros. film, Tomb Raider. Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL both composed the score for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Hans Zimmer also scored Man of Steel.
Elfman’s scores are usually very powerful and uplifting. It will be a very different feel than the score was in BvS. The score in that film was very dark and more epic than Danny Elfman usually writes. This would be the third comic book franchise he has worked on. He scored the Tim Burton Batman films and the Sam Raimi Spider-Man
I am very excited to hear his score. I like how the DCEU is taking a different direction starting with Wonder Woman (Review coming soon). Even though I enjoyed the darker tone in the previous films, I am very aware that they need to take a different approach from now on to DC movies.

Warner Bros. is working on another DC movie based on the character of Nightwing.
THR is reporting Chris McKay from the recent The Lego Batman Movie is in negotiations to direct the film, and Bill Duboque ( The Accountant) is writing the script.
In case you didn’t know, Nightwing is Dick Grayson, introduced in Detective Comics in 1940. He was a part of his family acrobatic team, “The Flying Graysons”, who were murdered. Bruce Wayne then adopted him and trained him to help him fight crime as Robin. McKay
directed a version of Robin in The Lego Batman Movie (review coming soon). That version was a little more comedic than the version I hope they’ll go for in this movie. Nightwing is an aged up version of Robin who was leader of the Teen Titans in the 80’s.
I said in an article earlier that one of the problems with the DCEU is that they make decisions constantly without a plan in mind. I would be saying that now if I weren’t such a fan of Nightwing.
Nightwing is one of my favorite DC heroes. He’s like Batman but funny, to put it simply. I think it’s awesome to expand on the bat family in this cinematic universe. We know that Jason Todd was killed by Joker in this universe. That begs the question to whether this Nightwing already exists in the universe, or if it’ll be an origin story. They could take the comic book route and say Jason Todd was the second robin. In the comics, when Jason Todd took over as Robin, Dick Grayson became Nightwing.
This could all be explored in the solo Batman movie, and it probably will. I can’t imagine them completely ignoring the fact that they showed a dead Robin suit in Baman v Superman. This gets me excited that Warner Bros. will explore the bat family more. Batman could even show up this movie. Whether it’s Ben Affleck or not is still being decided.
In the end, as much as I know DC is just saying these things to make us like them, this news gets me excited to see a live-action Nightwing movie.
