Is Mater In ‘Cars 3’?

Larry The Cable Guy might have hinted that Mater will appear in Cars 3.

The Cars 3 teaser and the extended look both were surprising. Not just because of their tone, but their lack of Mater.

At Larry The Cable Guy’s website the Cars 3 trailer is featured on the home page. Of course, this doesn’t confirm that Mater will be in the film, he could just be supporting his previous cast members. But, it makes sense that he would be in the movie. He was in the first two, and Mater seems to sell toys. ( which is the only reason Pixar makes these movies)

I didn’t like either of the Cars movies. I think they’re a huge step down from movies like Toy Story, The Incredibles, and Inside Out. The trailers got me intrigued because of their darker take. Now that Mater might be in it, which I kind of expected, I’m less excited.
Mater has to be one of the worst parts of the Cars franchise, and one of the worst in Pixar as a whole. Mater being in the film doesn’t help anything. He’s just there to make stupid jokes so the six year olds in the audience will laugh.

Anyways, I’m glad I found this piece of information so I could share it with you all. Even if it was bad news!

Mel Gibson In Talks To Direct ‘Suicide Squad 2’

One of DC’s upcoming movies, Suicide Squad 2, is eyeing Oscar Winner Mel Gibson to direct.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Mel Gibson is in early talks with Warner Bros. to direct Suicide Squad 2 and he is “familiarizing himself with the material.” Daniel Espinosa (Safe House, Life) is also being eyed. Variety reports that Warner Bros. is considering Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies, The Night Before) and Ruben Fleischer (Gangster Squad, Zombieland) as well.
Mel Gibson has also confirmed these reports at a Q and A at a Hacksaw Ridge screening. When asked “So is this getting close to a deal or is it a first date?” Gibson responded “It’s kind of a first date.”

The first Suicide Squad directed by David Ayer was a disappointment for me. It felt like a compilation of music videos with the same actors. Mel Gibson directing is good, but I’d rather him stay with his current thing. He’s done ideas that he’s wanted to do like Braveheart and Hacksaw Ridge up to this point and I’d like to see him stick with those instead of wasting him on Suicide Squad

Don’t get me wrong, he is a great director. Braveheart is one of my favorite movies of all time and Hacksaw Ridge was my 3rd favorite movie of last year. I think he’d make a great director for Suicide Squad 2. There’s just a part of me that wants him to do his own thing, and not try and with with comic book films.

Sophie Turner Starts Shooting X-Men

Last week, My Entertainment World started a rumor that the next X-Men movie would be X-Men: Supernova, it would start filming in June in Montreal, and it would be a movie based on the Dark Phoenix Saga.  I doubted this at first, but Sophie Turner added a bit of truth to the statement.

HeyUGuys interviewed Sophie Turner and when they asked what projects she had coming up, this is what she said:

“We’re about to start shooting the next X-Men, we’ve just finished shooting Season 7 of [Game of] Thrones, and I’ve got a couple of movies to do before X-Men starts. And then we go on to Season 8.”

The only X-Men movie confirmed to go into production is The New Mutants written and directed by Josh Boone.

I expected that Sophie Turner would be back after the end of X-Men Apocalypse and how they hinted at the Phoenix Saga. So, this really isn’t a surprise. I also find it interesting that we have 6 release dates for X-Men movies starting in 2018, and we don’t know what they all are. Usually these studios release five year slates, but that’s not the case with Fox.

It could definitely still happen, probably after Logan, but I think it would be interesting if they just didn’t really make a slate at all. It would be interesting if we found out as we went along instead of having all these movies in mind years in advance.

I got a little off track there!  That’s been something on my mind. Whether the movie is Supernova or not, it certainly could be at this point. The chance is a little higher. But, overall, Sophie Turner’s casting isn’t much of a surprise, I just want a really good X-Men movie again.

Avengers: Infinity War Behind-The-Scenes Video Is Released

Marvel released a behind-the-scenes video on Avengers: Infinity War earlier today. Filming apparently has been going on since January 23rd. The video has Robert Downey Jr., Chris Pratt, Tom Holland, Kevin Feige, the Russo brothers and more in it.

They say they’ll be filming for a year, so I’m assuming they’ll be filming Avengers 3 and 4 back to back, which makes sense because they are released exactly a year apart.

Image via Marvel

Kevin Feige talked about how the film will be a culmination of the entirety of the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far.

“Avengers: Infinity War is the culmination of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe as started in May of 2008 with the release of Iron Man 1, and it really is an unprecedented culmination of a series of films interlinked together, which at the time had never been done before. And for us the important thing is making it all come together. We know they’re gonna face Thanos; we’ve been setting that up since Avengers 1. How do you do that in a way that is unexpected, that pits the Avengers against somebody who is more powerful than anyone they’ve faced, and yet make them completely unprepared to face them? Well, tear them apart, which is why we did Civil War before Infinity War… Thanos shows us why he’s the biggest, the best, the baddest villain that we’ve ever had, and the most frightening villain that the Avengers have ever faced.”

He also went on to confirm that the Avengers would meet the Guardians of the Galaxy.

I like the approach thy have on this film. I believe that this will mark the end of this “era” of Marvel films, it’ll probably be Downey Jr.’s last along with some of the other Avengers. The Russo brothers directing is even more promising because of their work in Winter Soldier and Civil War.

I really hope this movie is as epic as they say it will be. With all these characters and talent I really want a great film.

Matt Reeves To Direct ‘The Batman’

A few weeks ago, we got the news that Ben Affleck dropped off as director from ‘The Batman’. Warner Bros. has been looking for a director since then. The director of Cloverfield, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and the upcoming War for the Planet of the Apes Matt Reeves has signed on to direct according to THR.

The report also states that the studio moved quickly to find a replacement and Reeve’s name shot to the top of the list. Sources tell them that multiple conversations occurred, with the studio and the director meeting in Friday.

Reeves has proven himself recently with Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and we’ll see if he can keep it up this June, but the news is good. It’s rear to hear that Warner Bros. had a name in mind and that he is on board. I really hope that he brings a fresh take on the Batman franchise no finally gets the project off the ground.

I said this in a previous story, but I just hope that Warner Bros. didn’t just look at his work on the Apes franchise and automatically hire him, and they actually have a vision for him. Every upcoming DC movie has had trouble, except Aquaman. All news about this movie has been bad with director troubles and script rewrites, it’s good to hear some promising news after being scared by previous reports.

I really hope this movie turns out really great along with other DC films.

Han Solo Movie Adds ‘Fleabag’ Star For CGI Role

The Han Solo anthology film, directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, started shooting recently. We don’t know anything about the plot really, but we do have some of the cast. Alden Ehrenreich is playing a young Han Solo, Donald Glover plays Lando Calrissian, Woody Harrelson plays Han’s mentor, and Emilia Clarke is in an unknown role.

Image via Den of Geek

Variety reports that Fleabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge is in talks have a key CGI role in the film. We don’t know who she will be playing, but the report says that her character will be CGI driven and it will be part of the large ensemble on par with Chewbaca and C3PO.

Waller-Bridge is known for her breakout role in the Amazon series Fleabag. It got two Critics Choice Awards nominations for Best Actress in a Comedy Series and Best Comedy Series.

I wonder what the role is, I’ve been getting into Star Wars canon and I can’t think of a character that this could be. I do hope that the character doesn’t stand out like certain characters in The Force Awakens

I haven’t seen Fleabag, but I have heard good things about it. Waller-Bridge is supposedly good in the show. So, the. Sat keeps growing for this film and I am getting more excited.

‘The Batman’ Gets New Director Frontrunner, Script Rewrite, and Possible 2019 Release Date

After the disappointing news that Ben Affleck would not be directing the solo Batman film, we have been waiting for a director announcement. Recently, we got a shortlist of directors to take over to helm the film. Now we have a possible front runner, complete rewrite, and possible release date.

Forbes is reporting that Matt Reeves might be the front runner for the film.

“Warner Bros. is already speaking to several filmmakers about taking over in the director’s chair — including one of my personal longtime favorites to direct a Batman movie, Matt Reeves, who seems to be the frontrunner — and word is the project will essentially get a fresh start once a new creative team has been put together.”

They also. Say that the script could get a complete rewrite.

“That the script would need more rewrites, particularly with a new director joining the picture, was a given. How extensive the process will be — I’m hearing anything from “major rewrites” to “a completely new script,” including starting from scratch on the story if that’s what it takes — is unclear, not just to us but probably to those involved as well, since the new filmmaker might look at the story and script and decide there’s plenty to salvage that appeals to them. Once the director is in place, more will become clear, but for now Warner Bros. is suffering far more negative perceptions than they need to, simply because of the attempt to slow and control the spread of information.”

Image via Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. is aiming for a release date of 2019.

“There’s more than enough talent involved and available to do this, and since we’re likely looking at a release date in 2019 anyway (assuming things get on track now and there aren’t further major delays), there’s no need to rush it. They can spend the next year and several months letting the creative team focus on finding a story and writing a script for The Batman, and still have another year and several months to shoot it and get it ready for release by July 2019.”

This just shows, again, that DC doesn’t know what they’re doing. All these rewrites aren’t good news, this is the second movie in the DCEU to get a complete rewrite. (assuming it is getting one) They’re making these plans then constantly redoing and changing them. I’ve actually lost count of the amount of changes that have been made to the DCEU.

Image via Warner Bros.

It’s so hard to have hope at this point, Ben Affleck’s Batman was the me thing that we could all rely on to have hope for this franchise. We already heard that Ben Affleck dropped as director, but now his script is getting rewrites completely. It’s like every hope I have for the property is being put down by all these decisions.

Matt Reeves as a director is cool. I just hope they have some plan for him and what they want him to do. And the release date is so far. For something that went in to production a little less than a year ago, it sure has taken a while for filming to start.

Image via Warner Bros.

I just can’t get on track for this movie. I keep having little silver linings, but Warner Bros. keeps shooting all hopes down.

This shows how important Wonder Woman and Justice League are. If those fail financially and critically, the. I think the franchise should just end and I think it will. If they are good however, that will get me back in board to a certain extent.

I don’t like being negative, I want to hear good news about these movies, but if you look back, nothing pans out well.

‘The LEGO NINJAGO Movie’ Trailer Is Released

Before the release of The LEGO Batman Movie, Warner Bros. has released the trailer to the next LEGO movie, The LEGO NINJAGO Movie.

Here’s the synopsis from Warner Bros:

“In this big-screen NINJAGO adventure, the battle for NINJAGO City calls to action young Master Builder Lloyd, aka the Green Ninja, along with his friends, who are all secret ninja warriors. Led by Master Wu, as wise-cracking as he is wise, they must defeat evil warlord Garmadon, The Worst Guy Ever, who also happens to be Lloyd’s dad. Pitting mech against mech and father against son, the epic showdown will test this fierce but undisciplined team of modern-day ninjas who must learn to check their egos and pull together to unleash their inner power of Spinjitzu.”

The movie stars Jackie Chan as Master Wu, Justin Theroux as Garmadon, Dave Franco as Lloyd, Olivia Munn as Lloyd’s mom, Koko, Fred Armisen as Cole, Abbi Jacobson as Nya, Kumail Nanjiani as Jay, Michael Peña as Kai, and Zach Woods as Zane.

This trailer was actually really fun! It seems like a great third movie to add to the LEGO cinematic universe. I really like that they are going to play with the father/son relationship between Lloyd and Garmadon. As long as they don’t overuse it, it could be really funny.

The animation looks really good, but that’s not really surprising. You kind of expect that from these movies, but that’s not to take away from it. The action looks cool, the hand to hand combat and the robot combat both look impressive for a LEGO animated movie.

Image via Warner Bros.

I’m curious to whether the movie takes place within the universe of The LEGO Movie and The LEGO Batman Movie, or not. I personally hope it does, because Warner Bros. has a really good idea with the LEGO movie franchise.

I really hope this movie is good, I loved The LEGO Movie and I will be seeing, and reviewing, The LEGO Batman Movie and I want this franchise to succeed.

Also, The LEGO Batman Movie review will be late, because I will be gone from Thursday to Sunday, so it’ll come later along with a John Wick Chapter 2 review. I’ll try and get some posts up while I’m gone.

Live Action ‘Aladdin’ Producer Wants A Diverse Cast

Disney announced a live action remake of the Disney classic, Aladdin, in 2016. Since then, fans have been concerned about the ethnicity of the cast and if Disney would white-wash the movie.

Collider spoke with Dan Lin, the producer of the film, and he gave some good news on the subject.

“Look at me. (Laughs) I mean I’m not a typical guy. Listen I’m very fortunate working in Hollywood; I am diverse. So when I came in to make the movie, I wanted to make a diverse version of the movie. Luckily for me Guy Ritchie has the same vision and Disney has the same vision, so we’re not here to make Prince of Persia. We want to make a movie that’s authentic to that world.”

He also added comments about getting newcomers in the lead roles.

“We’re gonna be discovering new people because it’s a real challenge, because not only does an actor have to act, but they really have to have singing chops.”

The film will have to follow up movies like Cinderella, The Jungle Book, and the upcoming Beauty and the Beast. He said this about that.

“Disney’s done an amazing job from Cinderella to now Beauty and the Beast—I saw it last week, the movie’s excellent. So they’ve really raised the bar for these musicals and these animation-to-live-action adaptations, that we have to then raise the bar on Aladdin. I actually think The LEGO Batman Movie’s helped me, because on the first LEGO Movie the bar was so high, and I actually think LEGO Batman’s exceeded that bar. It’s the same challenge with Aladdin—Disney’s done such a good job between Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and then Aladdin will hopefully be the next one up.”

This news sounds good, the best way to do an Aladdin movie is to make the actors Indian. I don’t know why Disney would let do that, but it is great to hear that they are making the film feel a lot more real ( despite it having a genie) and have the setting feel authentic.
Also, finding unknowns is a good idea, because I want to look at someone and say “That’s Aladdin!”, and not think it’s a celebrity.

Netflix Drops Iron Fist Trailer

After the successes of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage, Netflix’s final Marvel series before The Defenders will be Iron Fist

Netflix dropped the trailer earlier today, and it gives a somewhat promising look at the series. Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage were all great, and I have been really excited for this series. The trailer was OK. It’s certainly not bad. It just seems like they’re not putting as much effort in it as they could. Now, the trailer was fun, it had a lot of good looking action and humor. But, I just wanted a little more.

The first three series has very good and deep storylines that you could get behind. The trailer makes the series feel like a throwaway filler for Marvel. All that was in the trailer was action and stereotypical comic book movie lines like “become what you’re meant to be” . The story seems a little too traditional. A rich man with a company comes back from the “dead” with special skills, and he fights crime. Remind you of something?

The series could be great for all I know, but I just want a little bit more substance out of a Marvel Netflix TV show, based on their previous work..
